Ask any copywriter: brochures and flyers are alive and kicking!

Every time I’m let out of the house to attend a networking bash, I get stuck in the same old debate.

It usually plays out like this:

Some start-up guy or girlie asks me for a business card. Then they scan it with a furrowed brow and look up with a curious smirk.

“Seriously”, they titter. “You write brochures! Who uses brochures?”

Then they throw around words like “retro”, as if they invented the web, and tell me printed media never works.

Yep, that old chestnut.

But here’s the thing: we all have preferences – and even inside a well-defined niche, you’ll always find those touchy-feely types who want something in their hands.

Plus, it’s hard to ignore a solid object. You can’t just delete it, can you?

So my reply: collateral is a vital part of the marketing mix. True, it can’t replace the web, but it will always strengthen it. Whatever your sector, brochures and flyers can send you traffic...or even complete the sale.

Just as long as you get the words right!
