Research, copy and training: the whole web package

SAW is a major European funded project, to support Wales' next phase of technical growth. They work with IT companies and professionals to promote new skills and effective working methods. They also help IT students get their first foot on the ladder, and help non-tech business owners make the most of IT.

With four different audiences - or streams - they needed a series of messages to promote the support available. At the same time, they needed to tell the 'top level' story...all in a way that appealed to their audiences and project partners. 

They asked me to write the copy for their new website, together with collateral for targeted offline marketing. Tasks included:

  • Developing a tone of voice for each type of user, mixing levels of formality and technical awareness
  • Liaising with customers to develop stories around the project
  • Researching keyword trends and optimising copy for target phrases
  • Training staff to write their own content, including articles and case studies

The new site went live in the summer of 2013. To quote Shamala, the Project Leader:

    Project: Consultancy, SEO and copy for a series of micro sites - promoting women’s entrepreneurship, business incubation and some nifty activities around London 2012.

  • UWIC

    Project: Supporting the marketing team at Cardiff Metropolitan University. Projects included course page copy, a charitable appeal and training to build SEO and copywriting skills.


    Project: Concepts and copy for a series of brochures, web pages, annual reports and info packs - promoting physical activity in the workplace, at home and everywhere in between.
